Crepe Stall Opposite Platinum Mall (Thailand, Bangkok)

As we were finding Saeb X2 Wonton Noodles, we walked past this crepe stall. It was not hard to miss this as the crowd gathered there was blocking the path of this narrow walkway. Hence, as we walked back towards Platinum Mall, we stopped by this Crepe Stall to try it for ourselves.
This crepe stall is located at the junction of Phetchaburi Road and Soi 19 Petchburi Road. For the exact location, please refer to the map appended at the bottom of this post. The different types of fillings for the crepes are shown on the signboard.
It can be a little chaotic ordering for your crepe as there is no queue due to the narrow walkway. It was more of who could grab the attention of the stall owners when attempting to order. The crepes were made freshly on the spot.
We ordered the Chocolate Banana Crepe.
Chocolate Banana Crepe 60 Baht (S$2.50)
Chocolate Banana Crepe 60 Baht (S$2.50)
The Chocolate Banana Crepe cost 60 Baht ($2.50). It was pricey if you were to consider the Thai cost of living. In Singapore, such a Chocolate Banana Crepe would have cost $4.80.

The crepe was wrapped up like an ice cream cone to make it easy to takeaway. The crepe was crispy with a layer of chocolate spread on with slices of bananas. I thought that it was ordinary and did not have the wow factor. Towards the end, the chocolate was too sweet for my liking.

I wonder why there was a crowd gathered there.. I would suggest giving this a skip as there's a crepe stall located at the basement of Platinum Mall called Penn Crepe selling the exact same crepe at just 25 Baht! If you have tried it, do let me know if it's good.

Lady M Confections Singapore (Marina Square)

Lady M Confections has opened a store in Singapore at Marina Square! This is its first store outside of US. Interestingly, this is only Lady M Confections' fifth outlet! The other four stores are located in New York and Los Angeles. Now you do not have to travel all the way to US to try this!

Lady M Confections first opened in 2001 in New York and is well known for its cakes especially the mille crepe cake which uses a combination of French pastry techniques and Japanese etiquette of precision. In fact, many have claimed that Lady M Confections is the one who started the milli crepe cake craze.
We visited Lady M Confections Singapore on a Saturday at 5pm. To our surprise, there was a queue of around 5 persons in front of us although there were a few empty tables. From observation, it seemed that there was insufficient staff. Some of the tables were still not cleared. We waited around 10 minutes before we got into the cafe.
The store looks similar to the other stores in US with white theme used for its setup and furnishing. It was a pity the ambience was noisy, making it hard to hold a decent conversation. In addition, with 56 seats, if you are coming in a group of more than 5, it may be hard to get a table.

Cake Menu
The cake menu is appended above. It was a pity the Green Tea Mille Crepe was not available.
Vanilla Mille Crepe $7.50
The signature Vanilla Mille Crepe cost $7.50. This mille crepe cake was essentially a layered caked made up of more than 20 layers of paper thin crepes, with a vanilla cream filling between each layer. Each of these cakes are handmade over a period of 10 hours!

The top of the Vanilla Mille Crepe was lightly caramelized. The more than 20 over layers of crepes were incredibly thin with a soft texture. The light aromatic pastry cream with a hint of vanilla flavour complement the layers well. The Vanilla Mille Crepe was delicious on the first few mouthful. However, towards the end, we felt that it was too sweet and had difficulty finishing it.
Checker $8
The Checker $8 was a checkered vanilla and chocolate sponge cake covered in chocolate ganache. The cubes of chocolate and vanilla sponge cake were alternated to form checkered pattern. Each of these cubes were separated by light pastry cream. Personally, I thought that the layer of cream between each cube was too thick. The rich and bitter chocolate ganache complemented the sponge cake well. At $8 per slice, I thought that the cake was pretty ordinary. I would have expected something better for this price.

I am not particularly wowed by the cakes I had at Lady M Confections Singapore. In addition, the service needs to be improved. The staff had a tendency to look straight and not look around the surroundings. It was a challenge looking for one to take order or to even ask for the bill. If you are dining in, there will be a 10% service charge. I doubt I will be back anytime soon.. unless they have the Green Tea Mille Crepe (which is something I want to try).

Good news for fans of Lady M. By October, a second outlet will be opened in One Fullerton.

Mazazu Crepe (Liang Court)

Mazazu Crepe located at the basement of Liang Court specialises in serving crepes. It is the franchise of the Japanese chain; Mother's Crepe and Cafe. According to their website, they use their own proprietary recipe of crepe mix and whip cream (lower fat content, lower in cholesterol) that aims to create delicious yet healthy snack for every child. Looks like the perfect place to have a dessert after a meal at Saizeriya
There are limited seats available and the place was packed.
Four staff in total in the small stall. Each had a respective role and worked like clockwork. They were able to churn out the crepes within less 5 minutes upon the order.
Strawberry Brownie Gelato $6.80
Strawberry Brownie Gelato $6.80
Ordered the Strawberry Brownie Gelato (choice of either vanilla, green tea or chocolate gelato, we chose vanilla gelato). The crepe instead of being served in a plate, was wrapped up like an ice cream cone. The crepe was soft with a buttery fragrant. Inside, it was filled with Vanilla Gelato, slices of Strawberry and a chunk of Brownie. The strawberries were very fresh and sweet. Overall, I thought that this combination of ingredients tasted great with the crepe. (in fact giving me gelato with the crepe will be make my day after any meal!)
Hot Choco Banana $4.80
Hot Choco Banana $4.80
The Hot Choco Banana was also delish. The combination of hot chocolate and banana complemented the crepe well.

Located outside Meidi Ya Supermarket, there was a constant crowd passing through the area. When I was there enjoying the crepe, I noticed that the crowd kept coming. Most people just take away their order and have it while on the go. Wrapping the crepe like an ice cream is such a good idea, it also result in cost savings from need more seating capacity to the need for plates. An interesting place to check out for desserts. (There's always room for dessert!)
