Domino's Pizza Singapore (Sembawang)

Another visit to Domino's Pizza. This time, I visited their outlet at Sembawang located at Sembawang Cottage; between Khatib camp and Chong Pang camp.
Domino's Pizza Singapore (Sembawang)
Went there on at Saturday night at 1030pm. The place was empty which I expected as most people prefer to order through their Delivery Hotline (6222 6333) and receive the food in the comfort of their homes.
Every outlet in Domino's Pizza have the same concept. Bright and cheerful ambience with it's signature colours; red blue and orange.

I ordered the Value Meal 1 ($29.80) which comprises:
- 1 Regular Pizza
- 1 Chicken Wings (4pcs) OR 1 Golden Roasted Drummet (4pcs)
- 1 Garlic Cheese Onion Rings
- 1 Twisty Bread or BreadStix or CinnaStix

Moreover, topped up $2 to make a Half & Half pizza. Do note, Half & Half pizza requires the sauce to be the same for both halves.

As mentioned in my previous post, Domino's Pizza has a 15 minute take-away guarantee. I received my orders, within 13 minutes! That is real fast and impressive.
Value Meal 1
Golden Roasted Drummet ( 4 pieces)
The Golden Roasted Drummet is one of my favourites! Juicy, tender and well-marinated! It is finger licking good!
Twisty Bread
Twisty Bread was surprisingly delicious!Freshly baked, it was soft, warm and chewy with garlic powder on top. It was addictive, with good balance of sweetness and saltiness. This is a must order!
Garlic Cheese Onion Rings
Garlic Cheese Onion Rings was not bad. But with sides like Golden Roasted Drummet and Twisty Bread, this got finish last.
Regular Pizza Half & Half (Top Half: Chicken Temptation, Bottom Half: Classified Chicken)
I ordered the Crunchy Thin Crust Regular Pizza, Chicken Temptation and Classified Chicken with Top Secret Sauce. These are my favourite pizzas along with Hawaiian Paradise. As I have posted on these two pizzas before, I shall not rant on. Check out this post for the reasons.

Yet, again Domino's Pizza did not disappoint. Having tried something new; Twisty Bread I am even more impressed. This is a must order!

Have you Domino's (verb)? If you have not, you do not know what you are missing!

Long Ge Snack 龍哥小吃 (Sembawang Shopping Centre)

Some of us may have heard about Long Ge Snack 龍哥小吃  which serves crispy chicken cutlet. Long Ge Snack opened early this year in Sembawang Shopping Centre.

Menu (a)
Menu (b)
Menu (c) (fries)
Notice the many different choices of dipping sauce for the fries. I heard the special cheese sauce is a must try.

Although their signature dish is Grilled Crispy Chicken, we ordered the Crispy Chicken (non-spicy) as our throat was not too well. There was quite a number of people queuing up at the stall. We waited for close to 15 minutes for our Crispy Chicken. Not necessary a bad thing as the staff only start cooking the chicken when they received customers' orders.
The cover of the box containing the Crispy Chicken looks cool! Nice packaging.
Crispy Chicken $4.20
Weird that there is salad together with the chicken. Looks like a good way to make up for the 'sinfulness'. However, I am not impressed by the salad. The chicken was very crispy, tender and juicy. But somehow in terms of flavour and fragrant, I think it loses out to the likes of Shilin fried chicken.

Well, I have several people raving how good the Grilled Crispy Chicken is. I will have to try it one day to find out the powers of Long Ge.

Good Morning Nanyang Cafe 早安南洋 (Sembawang)

*Edited on Aug 2013: Good Morning Nanyang Cafe at Sembawang Shopping Centre has closed*

First ate at Good Morning Nanyang Cafe at its Chinatown’s outlet. Back then there was only that outlet and I have not started this blog. The Chinatown outlet was too far for me to visit frequently. I was thrilled when I heard that they have recently opened another outlet at Sembawang Shopping Centre. I have been craving for their Orange Ciabatta Toast for sometimes!

Good Morning Nanyang Cafe is similar to Yakun, Killiney and Toast Box seling breakfast sets such as Kaya Toast, half boiled eggs, coffee/tea. Their differentiation point is their kaya(which is home-made) and Orange Ciabatta Toast.

Decided to visit this place for late lunch (230pm) on a Sunday.

Good Morning Nanyang Cafe seems to have undergone some changes. The signage has changed. The menu has changed with some new items. The price has also changed. One thing I must mention is that their location at Sembawang Shopping Centre is a prime location! It is located Just along the main entrance of the shopping centre. With the glass walls, anyone who walks into the shopping centre will definitely see Good Morning Nanyang Cafe!

Moreover, noticed that the shop was quite crowded (230pm to 4pm). More than Fish & Co next door which was virtually empty except for one customer.

Notice the sink hidden at the left? Now you can crack your half boiled eggs and eat your toast with ease without the need to walk to the toilets to wash your hands.
Menu
Menu: Toast Sets and Local Delights
Tea
The tea was too sweet. Should have ordered their coffee instead since everyone (online)  has been praising about its coffee.
Queue Number Tag
Queue number tag for the rest of the orders (Orange Ciabatta, Laksa and Mee Rebus).
Laksa $4.00
Surprisingly, the Laksa was served faster than the Orange Ciabatta. There were pieces of dried toufu, fish cakes, hums, 1 whole piece of hard boiled egg, a piece of prawn accompanied by thick bee hoon. The prawn was firm and has been de-shelled, it was fresh. The laksa gravy was slightly spicy. As a whole, it was not lousy nor was it fantastic. Felt it could have been more fragrant and that more dried shrimps could be added. For now, I would still prefer 928 Yishun Laksa (have been almost 1 year since my last visit there).
Mee Rebus $3.60
I am not an expert in eating Mee Rebus (can’t comment much). The sauce was not bad accompanied by yellow noodles, beansprouts,  toufu, 1 whole hard boiled egg, 1 piece of lime and pieces of green chilli.
Orange Ciabatta Toast $2.80
Ciabatta is an Italian white bread made with yeast and wheat flour.

The Orange Ciabatta is unlike the tradition toast you get in Yakun and is much softer. It is baked with orange peel served with butter and kaya spread. It arrived warm and came slightly later than Laksa! (though that Laksa would come later as some cooking is required. Much effort has been done to make this Ciabatta.) Oh yes, did I mention that the kaya is home-made. The Kaya tasted different from Yakun’s and was much more fragrance (not overly sweet) with a hint of coconut. I can eat this everyday! Yummy

The Orange Ciabatta is a must try! Because of this item, I would rate this as a ‘die die must try!’ store.
Shuttle Bus Schedule
The good news is that there is free shuttle bus to Sembawang Shopping Centre for residents living in Yishun, Sembawang and Woodlands. The bus service is quite frequent. Operating hours of the bus service is stated in the flyer above.

Sembawang White Beehoon (Sembawang 白米粉)

Good news, for foodies in the North! Sembawang White Beehoon previously was under-going renovation. Now the renovation has ended and the shop is now open for business! The shop is located directly opposite Sembawang Shopping Centre. It has been featured in several newspapers and magazines. This place is crowded during lunch or dinner time. And it is hard to find parking space.
Exterior (From Sembawang 白米粉 Facebook profile picture)
Interior
Look at the change after the renovation. Now it look so bright, clean and ‘white’.
Queue
Now, there’s a queue system. Waited about 20minutes in this queue. More orderly and fair, allowing customers to make an order prior to getting a seat. Its much better this way from the owners’  and customers’ point of view. For owners, turnabout time is decreased as customers no longer sit down and decide on what to order. For customers already sitting down and eating, no pressure of people standing next to you waiting for you to finish up.
Lime juice $1.50 per mug
Ordered lime juice. Do note, the drink stall is now located at the interior of the stall. So do not order from when you ordering the main dishes as they are two separate entity. Was told that many people tried to ordered drinks when they were ordering the dishes as they did not see the drink stall and assumed that it was now one entity.

Menu
Same old menu =) Glad there was no price increase despite the renovation. Waited for about another 10-20 minutes for the food to arrive after getting a table.

Seafood White Beehoon $7.00
The signature Seafood White Beehoon. The $7 portion is just nice for 2 person to share. The beehoon was cooked with a rich wok-hei flavour, soft and delicious. With generous and fresh ingredients such as prawns, squids, vegetables and pieces of fried egg. The gravy was light yet tasty. Its a simple and light dish that was cooked to perfection. Have never eaten beehoon that was cooked in this way. This is a must order if you come here.
Sambal Chili Sauce (left)
Great Sambal Chili Sauce that is spicy and sour, is not the same as those that are available in the chicken rice. Totally love this sauce! This sauce complements the beehoon well! Of course, the beehoon taste great alone without any sauce.

Bittergourd Omelette (Wet) $5.00
I am  a huge fan of bittergourd. Most of my peers do not like that. I am lucky she do eats that too, hence we can order bittergourd =). This portion might be quite biased. The Bittergourd Omelette taste delicious. The bittergourd was cooked to perfection, it was not hard nor was it too soft. In some eateries, their bittergourds are hard, meaning that it was cooked too quickly. The egg as you can see was not over cooked, it was soft and in small pieces. Great dish, you can see effort was put into cooking this dish.
Close up of part of the menu
Egg Toufu with Mixed Vegetable $10.00
This dish was just average as the other 2 dishes were really so awesome that I do not remember any amazing about this dish. Do not be mistaken that this dish is lousy. But I would say that this dish seems abit too costly at $10.00. Making it the most expensive dish for the night.

We might have over ordered for 2 person. Was very full after finishing the meal. A great meal that was light, healthy and delicious. Similar to home cook food as the dishes are so simple and hearty. .In terms of price, it was not expensive, definitely value for money. This place is definitely worth a try for a Cze Char selling this quality of food, its a rare gem. After eating it, I am sure that you will be craving for their signature Seafood White Beehoon and wish you found out about this shop much earlier.
