I had in mind to try some other food when I visited Redhill Food Centre. But after a quick walk around, I noticed this prawn noodle stall which had a longer queue line compared to other stalls. Also considering it was 11.30am, not yet lunch time, my curiosity got the better of me. Moreover, a quick internet searched showed that the stall usually close at 12.30pm. All stars seem to be aligned. I knew that I had to give this a try.
The queue moved relatively fast and as I got nearer to the stall, I noticed that each person in the line seems to always want to order prawn noodles with pork ribs or bee hoon. But both had been sold out.
When it was my turned, naturally I avoided ordering these items to avoid making the owner repeat himself endlessly. There was the $4.50 or $5 Prawn Noodles. I ordered the $5 Prawn Noodles, dry with chilli.

I was impressed with the portion, for $0.50 more, I get 2 more pieces of prawns. For this $5 version, it came with 4 pieces of (whole, not half) prawns, slices of pork meat and fishcake, and beansprout.
It is quite a solid bowl of prawn noodles, hitting the right notes in terms of the taste. Addictive and not too oily. The chill provided a robust spicy kick without overpowering the underlying sweetness.

The prawns were deshell except for the tail end. Also, the prawns were big, firm and sweet, testament to how fresh the prawns were.

As for the broth, I love it. It was cloudy and tasty with a umami flavour that is not overwhelming.
