Gantetsu Ramen (Ramen Champion @ Iluma)

4th visit to Ramen Champion. This time, I tried Gantetsu from Sapporo. 2 more visits and I would have covered all the 6 Japanese Ramen restaurants.

Weird that the name of the stall is called Gantetsu considering its meaning is stubbornness

Gantetsu Menu
Gantetsu Menu (Special Miso Ramen)
There was no queue. Yet, a 'landmine' was given. Waited for around 5 to 10 minutes before the landmine exploded. Good to know that they cook their ramen only upon receiving orders.
Special Miso Ramen $15.00
The Special Miso Ramen comes with a ginger paste. It's broth made up of pork and miso was light and flavourful. The noodles was thin and firm. The sweet coin provided a distinct sweetness to the broth.  But the tamago was slightly overcook. Overall, quite an interesting ramen which was not overly salty.

The six Ramen restaurants are:

1.IROHA from Toyama
2.BARIO from Tokyo
3.GANTETSU from Sapporo
4.TETSU from Tokyo
5.IKKOSHA from Hakata
6.TAI SHO KEN from Tokyo

Domino's Pizza (Delivery)

This post is 5 months overdue. Ordered Domino's Pizza, delivered to my home for dinner for the two of us.

Domino's Pizza made a comeback in Singapore in 2010 after a 10 year absence. Domino's Pizza first came to Singapore in 1992 and exited in 2000. Currently, there are 13 outlets in Singapore and has a 30 minute delivery guarantee. No more having to wait 1 hour for your pizzas. Furthermore, Domino's Pizza is Halal Certified.
GPS Tracker
Furthermore, with their GPS tracker,  you can now track the stage where your pizza is.
Domino's Pizza has many different types of meals such as the Cheese Overload Meal ($39.80), Prawn Sensation Meal ($39.80), Cheese Burst Meal ($39.80), Sweet Sensation Meal ($43.80), Party Meal ($99.80), Value Meal ($29.80, $49.80, $34.80) and their monthly specials. For more details, click here. (Please note, I am not linked to Domino's Pizza nor am I paid to promote their menu. Just want to give full information to readers). Oh yes, did I mentioned that the prices are nett? No other hidden charges such as ERP. Well done!

We ordered the Cheese Burst Meal for $39.80 which consist of a 1 Regular Cheese Burst Pizza, 1 Regular Pizza, 1 Chocolate Lava cake and one Breadstick or Twisty Bread or Cinnastix. In addition, they had a promotion and this meal comes along with free Garlic Cheese Onion Rings.

The meal was delivered to us within 25 minutes! Ours should be from the outlet in Sembawang.
Hawaiian Paradise
Mozzarella cheese with smoked chicken breast, turkey ham and pineapple, you can never go wrong with Hawaiian pizzas. Always one of my favourite pizzas.
Extravaganzza
Apologies for the unclear picture. In fact, some of the photos in this post are taken quite badly as I was too hungry.

The Extravaganzza pizza consist of mozzarella cheese with beef pepperoni,  grounded beef, green pepper, onions, mushrooms and olives. So many ingredients. Very flavourful and fragrant.
Cinnastix
The Cinnastix was soft and fluffy sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar.  Quite interesting and unique. But way too much flour/dough for a meal.
Garlic Cheese Onion Rings
Garlic Cheese Onion Rings
One thing I am certain is that I could not taste any hint of cheese or garlic. Which is not necessary a bad thing. Thought that this was just average.

Chocolate Lava Cake
With such a large amount of food for the two of us, we kept this for the next day. Sinful molten chocolate will start oozing out once you break through the layer of cake. Quite nice.

Overall, quite like Domino's Pizza. With its fast delivery time, nett prices and delicious pizzas I am won over already. One thing that I learnt too was that this is way too much for two person to share! We could not finish the chocolate lava cake, two slices of the Extravaganzza pizza and the four pieces of cinnastix.

928 Yishun Laksa (Yishun Central)

This laksa stall is commonly known as the '928 Yishun Laksa'. Why 928? Because this tiny stall is situated at a little corner of Blk 928. This is Yishun’s most famous and best laksa. It is a household name in Yishun. This stall has been around since I was in Secondary school, and that is 15 years ago!
928 Yishun Laksa
Go to the correct stall. The stall is at the right side of the picture above. Do take note at the left side of the picture with the shutter down, there is a similar laksa stall there. For me, I prefer the one at the right, which  sells the best laksa in Yishun.

Long queue despite the time being 4pm in the afternoon.

It is just a tiny stall. But do not under estimate its power. The laksa comes at $2.50 or $3.00. Yes, the owner sells laksa only. And there is always a queue. Oh yes, this stall is featured frequently on TV (food shows), magazines and websites such as Makansutra.

Laksa $3.00
As the saying goes, a picture speaks a thousand words. Look at the ingredients. Reasonable amount of fish cakes, dried toufu, crabsticks, fresh bean sprouts, half hard boiled egg, lots of thick bee hoon. Normally, it comes with hum. In this case, I requested for no hum (Uncle Mai Hum..haha reminds me of this). Laksa leaves and sambal chilli paste which you can add according to your preference. The laksa gravy is fragrant, rich with bits of dried shrimps, right amount of coconut milk and chilli. Not oily too. It is so fragrant that I find myself drinking spoonful of laksa gravy despite sweating all over and before I knew it I finish the whole bowl! Yes, even all the gravy!  This $3.00 is worth the money.

The downside is that there is limited space to sit and also be prepared to sweat it out eating this as there is only 1 small fan. But I would say this is one laksa worth sweating and paying for. Give this a try! Who says there is nothing good in the north!
