Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice 海南起骨鸡饭 (Golden Mile Food Centre)

This stall is located at the basement of Golden Mile Food Centre or Beach Road Army Market. It specialises in dishing out Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice to customers. This is a very popular stall and is one of my favourite. There is no queue seen here as customers order, give their table number and sit down to wait for their meals to be delivered. It can be a long wait, so make sure you ask how long is the waiting time before ordering (especially if you are in a rush)

I came down to this stall on a weekday for lunch. I ordered 'White' Chicken Rice $3.50 with Organ ($0.50). The waiting time was about 25minutes.

The rice was soft, warm and fluffy. Each grain of rice is well 'oil' and has fully absorbed the essence of chicken, garlic and ginger. Not sure if pandan leaves were used. But the rice was fragrant and flavourful. The rice itself  is certainty one of the best (chicken rice) I have eaten and can be eaten alone! I like it so much that I ordered a second bowl of rice at $0.30! Normally else where would have charged at least $0.50.
Steamed Chicken Rice $3.50 with Organ ($0.50)
Quite a reasonable amount of organs (Gizzard) were given. The steamed chicken was soft, tender and tasty. It was so delicious that I wanted a second serving of it! If not for the waiting time, I am sure I would have ordered a second serving.

Accompanied with its chilli and black sauce, it enhances the taste of the whole meal!
Soup
The soup was a normal chicken rice soup that you can typically get at any stall.

Keep a look out for the lady who is serving, she is always running about carrying plates/trays of chicken to customers! I am sure her stamina will put many of us to shame!

Overall, it was a great meal despite the wait. This is certainty one of the best chicken rice stall in Singapore! Moreover, it is very affordable. Can't wait to eat it again.

*Edited 10 Feb 2012* In my opinion, this stall (Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice) serves the best chicken rice in Singapore.

Chee Kong Cheng Tng (Geylang Serai)

This is a Chinese own stall in Geyland Serai Market for more than 40 years. Chee Kong is the Malay translation of the popular Chinese dessert called Cheng Tng. In fact, I was told that this is the best dessert stall in the market.

Menu

Cold Chee Kong (Cheng Tng) $2
Naturally, I ordered Chee Kong (Cheng Tng). It provided a good relief against the heat and the spicy food. Helped to quench my thirst. Inside, it was  full of different ingredients such as sweet potato, gingko nuts, barley, sugared winter-melon sticks, lotus seeds and white fungus. It was not too sweet and flavourful (from the variety of ingredients). Quite delicious and different from the cheng tng that I have normally eaten. Give this a try when you pass by the Geylang Serai Market.

Menu
Menu (Price)
$3 for each cupcakes and if its a special its $3.50.

Ordered 6 cupcakes which would cost $17.00. However, as 1 of them is a special the total cost was $17.50. Ate 2 of them first. The other 4 was to be packed home.
Chocolate Chocolate

Vanilla Chocolate

From Top Left (clockwise) Blueberry Cream Chese (special), Red Velvet, Rainbow Vanilla, Expresso
These four cupcakes were packed home.

The cupcakes look very appetising (colourful, bright, contrasting colours) and it can be seen that great pains were taken for the design of each cupcakes. The frosting on top was surprisingly delicious. The cupcakes were moist and fluffy. Overall, it was not too sweet or oily. My favourite is Red Velvet, Chocolate Chocolate and Rainbow Vanilla. I heard that Peanut Butter is a must try. Despite such good comments, I felt that $3.00 was too expensive for the cupcakes.
