Menya Iroha Ramen (Ramen Champion @ Iluma)

My 3rd visit to Ramen Champion at Iluma. Noticed that the crowd seems to have lessen considerably despite it being lunch time. So if you have been wanting to try the Japanese ramen at Iluma Ramen Champion, now is the best time.

This time, I decided to try Menya Iroha. No queue at all.

Menya Iroha Menu (Negitama Ramen)
Ordered the Negitama Ramen. Got my bowl of ramen within 5 minutes as there was no queue at all.
Negitama Ramen (large) $15.50
The Negitama Ramen is a black soy sauce  based ramen. It consisted of bamboo shoot, seaweed, leek, chashu and egg. The chashu was forgettable. The egg was also average. The ramen was curly, thin and springy. The black soy sauce soup base was quite unique. It was flavourful and seems light. However, towards the last few mouthful, I felt thirsty. Looks like its a case of too salty again.

Ps: Thee six Ramen restaurants are:
1.IROHA from Toyama
2.BARIO from Tokyo
3.GANTETSU from Sapporo
4.TETSU from Tokyo
5.IKKOSHA from Hakata
6.TAI SHO KEN from Tokyo

Long Ge Snack 龍哥小吃 (Sembawang Shopping Centre)

Some of us may have heard about Long Ge Snack 龍哥小吃  which serves crispy chicken cutlet. Long Ge Snack opened early this year in Sembawang Shopping Centre.

Menu (c) (fries)
Notice the many different choices of dipping sauce for the fries. I heard the special cheese sauce is a must try.

Although their signature dish is Grilled Crispy Chicken, we ordered the Crispy Chicken (non-spicy) as our throat was not too well. There was quite a number of people queuing up at the stall. We waited for close to 15 minutes for our Crispy Chicken. Not necessary a bad thing as the staff only start cooking the chicken when they received customers' orders.
The cover of the box containing the Crispy Chicken looks cool! Nice packaging.
Crispy Chicken $4.20
Weird that there is salad together with the chicken. Looks like a good way to make up for the 'sinfulness'. However, I am not impressed by the salad. The chicken was very crispy, tender and juicy. But somehow in terms of flavour and fragrant, I think it loses out to the likes of Shilin fried chicken.

Well, I have several people raving how good the Grilled Crispy Chicken is. I will have to try it one day to find out the powers of Long Ge.

Thailand flood crisis explained by RooSuFlood

I think this is my first non-food related post! Will do more when there is an opportunity! Otherwise it is mainly still food!

These 2 videos are very interesting! These videos are done by RooSuFlood to explain the Thailand flood crisis. It's real interesting how these video are done using animations to explain situations or what to do. It certainty got my attention and at the same time sent it's intended message. Good job!

The first explains the situation in Thailand.

The second on what to do when you are caught in the flood - Evacuation and how to prepare for it. (even how not to get electrocuted!)

The rest of the videos can be found here.
